Game of Crowns

How It Works

Last updated 15 September 2026

Thrones start sealed

Every country begins locked. It takes 25 people asking for a country before its throne opens. Anyone can ask, it costs nothing, and you can ask for one country each.

The moment a throne opens, everyone who asked for it is told at the same time.

You do not buy a crown

Once a throne is open, anyone can claim it. You win it by having the most backers — real people who have backed you for that country. Money has nothing to do with it. There is nothing to pay.

Each person may back one claimant per country, and may change their mind at any time.

The Coronation

Crowns do not change hands the instant someone pulls ahead. Once a day, at 12:00 UTC, the Coronation runs and crowns whoever leads in each country.

If a challenger ties the current ruler, the ruler keeps the crown. Ties between challengers go to whoever claimed first.

Backing fades

A backing lasts 14 days. After that it lapses unless renewed. A crown is something you keep earning, not something you win once and hold forever.

Fake accounts do not work

Backings from fabricated accounts are removed before each Coronation, so they never win anything. Organising real people to back you is the game working as intended. Manufacturing fake ones will cost you every account involved.

Some countries differ

A few countries are unavailable, and in some you compete for Champion rather than a royal title. This is because several countries have laws protecting their sitting monarch, and we would rather leave those alone than be clever about them.
